Christopher J. Hoh
Christopher J. Hoh (b. 1959) grew up in Reading, Pennsylvania and was influenced as a young singer and accompanist by great works under conductors in Pennsylvania, New York, and Washington. He has been in Alice Parker’s composer seminar as well as workshops with Jean Berger, Daniel Moe, Robert Page, and Craig Jessop. Hoh has focused primarily on writing choral music and has received commissions from the Stuttgart German-American Chorus, the Alexandria (VA) Choral Society and Kinderchoir, GenOUT Youth Chorus (DC), Meistersingers of Orange County (CA), and King’s Chapel (Boston). His music has been performed throughout the USA and Europe by various choral ensembles including The Thirteen and The Crossing. When the 2020 pandemic made choral singing impossible, Hoh began writing organ music. In addition to a number of solo pieces, his organ works include Concertino Corona, a concerto for organ and chamber orchestra. Hoh’s formal education was in the field of international affairs, and he had a three-decade career in the U.S. Foreign Service.
